17-year-old boy who became youngest chartered accountant in Nigeria bags PhD degree at 25

A young Nigerian man named Eddiong Bassey who bagged an accounting degree and was certified as a chartered accountant at the age of 17 has earned his PhD in Accounting at the National University of Ireland.

Dr. Eddiong Bassey obtained his bachelors degree in Accounting at Leadcity University, Nigeria in 2015 at the age of 17 and was qualified as a chartered accountant that same year.

Dr Eddiong was admitted into Caleb International College, Lagos, Nigeria in 2005 at the age of 8 where he earned his high school diploma. He spent 4-years in school instead of the required 6 years and was home-schooled for 1 year by his father.

Futhering on, Dr. Eddiong gained admission into Lead City University, Ibadan, Nigeria at the age of 13 and graduated at the age of 17 with a bachelors degree in Accounting.

He graduated with a first-class honors and was awarded the overall best graduating student of the university for the 2013/2014 academic session.

While a student at Leadcity University, he took a few professional examinations which he passed. The professional exams include; the Taxation Technician Scheme, Accounting Technician Scheme, and Chartered Institute of Taxation Examinations.

During his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Dr Eddiong wrote and passed the final exams of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) earning his qualification.

Besides a bachelor’s degree, Dr. Eddiong also holds a distinction Master’s degree in International Accounting & Finance from the University of Kent, United Kingdom. He also holds a Master of Research in Social Science Research Methods from the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom.

Now, Dr. Eddiong has bagged a doctorate degree in Accounting from the National University of Ireland, Dublin.
